EV House 01. 2016
Los Angeles, CA
This addition to a private residence in Elysian Valley is designed around a linear typology. The narrow site, 40 feet wide, created strong site constraints but at the same time revealed a successful parti-diagram; a two story house that runs the entire length of the site and exhibits varying levels of porosity. Second story decks are carved into the massing to allow for daylight to penetrate into the site. Overhangs create shelter from the sun. Openings are set to the north east, reducing the solar heat gains and preserving the view to the LA river and the hills beyond.
